1. What is 500 watt LED Floodlight?
Floodlights are the equipment that emits bright and broad light beam that illuminates large areas. Comparing to the household light bulbs having a few watts, the power of LED flood light can be 500W, 1000W, or even more. They are designed for heavy-duty, commercial or other application that requires bright lighting. 500 watt means LED chips inside flood lamp consumes 500J energy per second. How bright is it when comparing to metal halide or halogen lights? We can consider their lumen output.
2. Lumen of 500W LED Lights
Why LED lights are more energy-saving? It is because under the same power consumption, 500W LED produces higher lumen output than 500W halogen or other HID lighting fixtures. To give you a quick idea, the lumen of 500 watt LED flood lights is 70000 lm, which is significantly higher than the HID lights.
500 Watt LED vs Halogen vs Metal Halide Lumens
For instance, our LED lights having 500 watt power has luminous efficacy of 140 lm/W, which means the lumen output of LED is 500 x 140 = 70000 lumens. On the contrary, the energy efficiency of halogen is just around 10 to 20 lm/W, and thus the lumen of 500W halogen = 500 x 10 = 5000 lumens. We can see there is a huge difference between the lumens of LED and halogen. After replacing the halogen lights with LED, we can save approx. 10 to 14 times running (electricity) cost.
The lumen of 500W metal halide lights = 500 x 60 = 30000 lumens, which is also lower than LED of 70000 lumens. And hence, LED is the brightest floodlight when comparing to metal and halogen under the same power consumption.
